Privacy Policy

last updated · november 4, 2026

The short version. Your microphone audio never leaves your browser — it is analysed locally and discarded. This site itself sets no cookies and stores nothing about you. Advertising on the site is served by Google and its partners, who use cookies as described in sections 4 and 5 below.

1 · Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to https://testmymic.online/ ("the site"), a free, browser-based microphone testing tool operated from a single server. By using the site you agree to this policy and to the Terms of Service.

2 · Your microphone data

The site requests access to your microphone only when you click Run probe. What happens to that audio:

  • Nothing is uploaded. The audio signal is processed entirely inside your browser using standard Web Audio tools. No audio, recording, or derived measurement is transmitted to us or to any third party.
  • Nothing is stored. Recordings are never written to disk, on your device or on ours. The permission grant is kept by your browser for the page, per your browser's own rules, and can be revoked at any time from the address-bar lock icon.
  • Results stay on your screen. The list of tests you run during a visit ("the ledger") lives only in the current page. It disappears when you close or reload the tab and is never sent anywhere.

The site also has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of its own.

3 · Server logs

Like virtually every web server, the machine hosting the site keeps a standard access log for security and troubleshooting. It records, for each request: IP address, the URL requested, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. These logs are not combined with any other data, are not used to profile visitors, and are kept only for a short operational period. No other personal data is collected by us.

4 · Advertising and cookies

The site displays advertising to cover hosting costs. Ads are served through Google AdSense, and third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads within the ad slots.

  • These vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of many third-party vendors' cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.com (EU).

For information about how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and How Google uses advertising data.

5 · Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, no advertising cookies are set and no personalised ads are shown until you have given consent. When advertising is active on the site, it uses Google's certified consent management platform (Funding Choices), which presents a consent message as an overlay on your first visit — it is not a separate page. You can then accept or reject personalised advertising, and change or withdraw your consent at any time.

  • The microphone test works fully whether you accept or reject personalised advertising.
  • You can reopen the consent message using the privacy button that Google's consent tool places on the page, or adjust personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings.
  • Withdrawing consent takes effect immediately and does not affect the microphone testing functionality.

6 · Your rights

Because we do not build profiles, sell data, or store personal information beyond the transient server logs described in section 3, there is generally nothing for us to hand over, correct, or delete. If you have a question about your data under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or any other law, contact us at the address below and we will respond promptly.

7 · Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8 · Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to advertising providers. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
